This morning we attended the latest PIP Education Building seminar in RIBA Journal’s head office at 66 Portland Place.
The morning’s seminar included guest speakers from Níall McLaughlin Architects, Dixon Jones, Isherwood & Ellis and Rockwool. Alongside the presenters was our very own Anthony Millington who showcased our project with Alison Brooks Architects: the Quaterhouse in Folkestone.
The case studies delved into exemplary projects from the educational sector, including special learning environments, primary schools, colleges and universities.
A common thread that came from the morning’s talks was the extreme attention to detail in the architectural designs, ranging from colour association to acoustic requirements and classroom / playground furniture.
But it is this level of detail that turns out some of the most amazing projects and creates the most inspiring and engaging places to learn. So, it’s no surprise that one of the projects presented this morning has been shortlisted for a Stirling Prize (the Sultan Nazrin Shah Centre in Oxford).
The PIP Seminars are an excellent platform to celebrate outstanding architectural design and promote the collaboration between manufacturers and architects. It was a pleasure to support the event and we look forward to working with RIBA J again soon!
