Last week Company Director Anthony Millington visited Oakland’s College to announce the winner of our student competition.
Back in May we set the local Art Foundation students a project brief to design and fabricate a piece of architecture that incorporated our range of mesh products. The designs were showcased at our Open House Exhibition in Clerkenwell, where we invited industry professionals to judge the designs.
This week we were delighted to announce that the Architect’s Choice Award went to Luke Hazelhurst, who designed a window glass panel with a brass mesh of St Albans Abbey encased inside. Awards were presented to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners, and the opportunity of gaining work experience with us was offered to everyone that entered.
College Tutor, Rachel Hicks said: “It was great to give the students the opportunity to work with such a diverse range of metal meshes and perforated sheeting. It challenged their fabrication skills and led to some exciting and creative responses.
“Having the chance to then exhibit these at Clerkenwell design week was an exciting opportunity for the students and they gained an enormous amount from the chance to work on a live brief with a professional team.
"We all really enjoyed working with everyone at Cadisch MDA. The team were so enthusiastic about the students’ ideas and encouraged and supported them at all stage of the process."
Thanks to all the students that took part in the competition.
