Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts

Welltec
Pleated and perforated Corten installed at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts

The purpose-built development in Peckham was designed by Carl Turner Architects and houses two new buildings that span over 4,760 sqm. The buildings are nestled behind the Stirling Prize winning Peckham Library in London and are home to one of the UK's leading drama schools, Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.

The iconic buildings have been clad in a pleated veil of perforated rainscreen mesh from Cadisch MDA's Welltec range. The architects specified a pallet of Corten steel for the cladding, which captures the raw nature of the site and inspires creativity from the inside out.

The Academy predicts that it will welcome over 250,000 visitors to the building each year and it will bring in an estimated £13.7m annually to the local community: "the new building will be a game changer for the school, local area and the UK's creative industry as a whole."
