We’re delighted to announce that two of our projects have been shortlisted at this year’s AJ Retrofit Awards, hosted by Architects Journal.
First up, is our project with Haworth Tompkins at Bush Theatre, which has been nominated for a Cultural Building award.
The world-renowned theatre recently underwent a major refurbishment project, which included a new front of house extension to accommodate a 20% higher capacity. Haworth Tompkins set out to create a modern upgrade to the theatre, whilst staying true to the heritage of the building and honouring the diversity of the surrounding community.
The architectural practice specified our Welltec range in a matt black finish, which was used on the roof of the extension. The roof also incorporated fruitwood supporting beams and industrial-style lighting to bring an element of warmth and contrast to the design.
The second project up for an award is 5 The Square at Stockley Park, which has been entered into the ‘Offices’ awards category for its extensive refurbishment carried out by 5plus Architects.
The 72,800sq ft. building offers world-class office space on one of Europe’s leading business parks. The client wanted to create a dramatic entrance to the building that represented the high-class facilities on site.
To achieve this, our Perftec range was specified on the atrium that surrounds the entire building. The front panel was finished in a pristine white powder-coat, with a metallic gold panel sitting behind. This allowed for the gold panel to discreetly shine through the perforation, creating a stunning aesthetic.
The modern façade has then been combined with our Vitramesh range, which was installed throughout the bathrooms in the central core. The glass-laminated mesh offered a practical solution for these areas, as it’s easy to clean, but looks consistent with the Perftec façade, bringing the whole project together cohesively.
We'll find out whether these projects have been successful later this year at the awards night, which takes place in London on Wednesday 13th September. To find out more or to book tickets, click here.
