When it comes to designing educational buildings there's often plenty to consider, from acoustics to energy efficiency ratings and the legislative requirements that fall under the school building regulations.
But we also want to design a space that can inspire those who enter it, creating a dynamic and interesting place to study and socialise in.
Over the years we've supplied architectural metal to many educational buildings, which includes everything from perforated panels to complete building envelopes at primary schools, secondary schools, colleges and universities.
A popular range within the sector is Perftec. Using Picperf technology we can create patterns in the metal that can replicate a school emblem or we can create unique designs that uplift a space or building exterior.
One of the most architecturally famous educational buildings that we have worked on is Kingswood Academy, which was built as part of Hull City Council's Building Schools for the Future Initiative and has since won the RIBA Yorkshire and RIBA National Award, as well as being included in RIBA's 'Best Modern Architecture' tour series and shortlisted for a British Construction Industry Award.
The building was clad in aluminium specified from our Weltec range, SZ35/35. Click here to view the project.
